This book, discussing marketing and sales principles, was designed to match the simple, modern style of the author's consulting firm.
After working on this book for several years, the author brought me on to layout the interior of the book, select typefaces, design chapter title pages and format several additional components.
It was important to the client to preserve the simple design style of his firm, who will distribute the book. I opted to begin with the typeface selection from his existing branding, complemented with a bold black-and-white color palate.
Additionally, the client wished to use this book as both an instructional tool and guidebook for his own clients as a marketing consultant. It was critical that the book's layout be designed for note-taking and use bullet points, chapter summaries and action prompts.
The design took shape quickly, each chapter of the book beginning with a bold title spread and concluding with an emphasized summary and ample space for note-taking alongside a series of prompts and questions. As we went, I refined margins, bleeds and leading to better reflect the client's existing brand style and reaching a layout that is both easy to read and facilitates note-taking.
