A small private school was in need of an updated visual brand that better reflected a modern design style. I developed a bold, academic design to serve as a foundation for subsequent redesigns of various marketing assets and campus signage.
After several decades of stagnation and fragmentation, I was approached by the client to create a new visual brand around a new logo that had been created by a faculty member (pictured). As a small, private academic institution, the client asked for traditionally "academic" aesthetic elements and a dark blue color scheme.

Using the client's logo as a base, I created a "seal" logo variation to be used in more spacious assets or formal settings. The seal included their wordmark, logo and a reference to the institution's longevity with "Est. 1901" surrounding the logo.

In addition to a dark blue primary color, the client's previous visual style included a tan accent color. Opting for a cleaner, monochromatic palette, I replaced the tan color with a lighter shade of blue and defined a set of white, gray and blacks to fully embrace the client's desired color scheme.

The most impactful addition to this new brand was the introduction of a new title font, Freshman. This helped to achieve the academic styling the client requested, as well as matching the bold color scheme with equally loud typography.
At the conclusion of the project, the client requested my help in creating a few operational and marketing assets to begin their process of implementing these changes. At the conclusion of these deliverables, my involvement with the brand was concluded and they continued to implement on their own.
